OPENING SENTENCES
O Lord, open our lips.
And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.
Be willing, O God, to deliver us!
O Lord, come quickly to our help!
Through Christ then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name. (Hebrews 13:15)
THE GLORIA PATRI
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. AMEN.
THE MORNING PSALM
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;
let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
For the Lord is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
Oh come, let us worship and bow down;

Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord!
O Lord, hear my voice!

to the voice of my pleas for mercy!
If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities,

THE PSALM PRAYER
Compassionate Father, full of mercy, who never rejects the prayers of those who call upon you in spirit and in truth: Have mercy on us and destroy the multitude of our iniquities according to the truth of your promises that you have promised to us and in which we rest our whole confidence, even as we are taught by the Word of your Son our only Savior. AMEN.
THE OLD TESTAMENT LESSON
A reading from Isaiah, chapter 45:
For thus says the Lord,
who created the heavens
(he is God!),
who formed the earth and made it
(he established it;
he did not create it empty,
he formed it to be inhabited!):
“I am the Lord, and there is no other.
I did not speak in secret,
in a land of darkness;
I did not say to the offspring of Jacob,
‘Seek me in vain.’
I the Lord speak the truth;
I declare what is right.
Assemble yourselves and come;
draw near together,
you survivors of the nations!
They have no knowledge
who carry about their wooden idols,
and keep on praying to a god
that cannot save.
Declare and present your case;
let them take counsel together!
Who told this long ago?
Who declared it of old?
Was it not I, the Lord?
And there is no other god besides me,
a righteous God and a Savior;
there is none besides me.
Turn to me and be saved,
all the ends of the earth!
For I am God, and there is no other.
By myself I have sworn;
from my mouth has gone out in righteousness
a word that shall not return:
‘To me every knee shall bow,
every tongue shall swear allegiance.’
Only in the Lord, it shall be said of me,
are righteousness and strength;

THE CANTICLE Te Deum Laudamus We Praise You, O God
We praise you, O God, we acclaim you as Lord;
all creation worships you, the Father everlasting.
To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,
the cherubim and seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.

THE EPISTLE LESSON
A reading from Ephesians, chapter 6:
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ, not by the way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but as bondservants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man, knowing that whatever good anyone does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether he is a bondservant or is free. Masters, do the same to them, and stop your threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and that there is no partiality with him. (Ephesians 6:1-9)

The Prayers for Grace
Heavenly Father, in you we live and move and have our being: We humbly pray that you will so guide and govern us by your Holy Spirit, that in all the cares and occupations of our life, we may not forget you, but may remember that we are ever walking in your sight. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN
Eternal God, your Son, Jesus Christ, now exalted as Lord of all, pours out his gifts on the church: Grant us that unity which your Spirit gives, keep us in the bond of peace, and bring all creation to worship before your throne, Through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. AMEN
Friday Morning Prayers
We praise you, O God, with the morning light, and in the brightness of a new day we bless your holy name. For all you have given to us with the gift of life, making us in your own image and granting us to share as children in your knowledge and your love, in your work and your joy, we thank you, Heavenly Father. For all good things in the world, for food and clothing, for home and friendship, for useful tasks and pure pleasures, we thank you, Heavenly Father. For all spiritual blessings, for Thy holy Word, for Christian fellowship, for the good example and blessed memory of your saints, for the secret influence of your Spirit, we thank you, Heavenly Father. And above all we bless you for the redeeming life and death of your dear Son our Savior Jesus Christ. AMEN.
God of grace, let our concern for others reflect Christ’s self-giving love, not only in our prayers, but also in our practice. Especially we pray for:
- those subjected to tyranny and oppression…
- those who have been physically, or mentally, or spiritually wounded and injured…
- those who are facing death…
- the Church in Latin America…

The Prayers of the Day
O God, because without you we are not able to please you, mercifully grant that your Holy Spirit may in all things direct and rule our hearts through Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.
Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ’s glory, that he may be known, worshiped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. AMEN.
God of mercy: Help us to forgive, as you have forgiven us: Help us to trust you, even when our hope is failing; help us to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus Christ our Lord, who taught us to pray together:
The Lord’s Prayer
